Working the bar at Lindisfarne Footy Club
It's no secret that I love my grassroots sport. Before I was elected to the Legislative Council, I was a sports reporter and I loved getting around to all the games.
Naturally my heart is with some of the great teams on the Eastern Shore. I am an avid follower of the Clarence Zebras in the soccer. One of the things that makes local sport great is that it brings the community together. People come down to watch the game and get behind the team but there's always time for a yarn on the sidelines.
It also relies so much on the work of volunteers who help out with coaching and organising from the junior levels up, as well as making things run smoothly on game day. So I was very happy to put my hand up to help on the bar this weekend at the Lindisfarne Footy Club's home game at Anzac Park. Unfortunately the boys didn't walk away with the win against Huonville, but it was great to see lots of familiar faces and get to know some new ones too.
